Following the recent statement from the Welsh Government, please find the latest changes to our facilities and services below.

We are following Covid-19 Guidance set out by Welsh Government, UK Active and UK Theatre across our services and facilities to help keep you and our other customers, staff and volunteers safe. You can find the measures we have in place and the guidelines you will need to follow here

We take your safety very seriously and have worked hard to make our facilities a safe environment. If you’re nervous about coming to visit us, please contact us.

We strongly recommend that all customers over 18 take a lateral flow test before visiting our facilities.

Our Services

Gyms

Gyms remain open at Active Living Centre, the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales, Newport Centre and the Regional Pool & Tennis Centre. 

Sessions at the gym are one hour must be booked in advance.  Additional measures will be implemented in our gyms including increased social distancing and reduced capacities.

Group Exercise Classes 

Group exercise classes are available at Active Living Centre, Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales, Newport Centre and the Regional Pool & Tennis Centre. 

Classes must be booked in advance.  Additional measures will be implemented in our classes including increased social distancing and reduced capacities which may mean that the location of your class has changed.

Online classes will also be introduced in the upcoming weeks.

Tennis Courts and Lessons

Tennis courts are available to book and tennis lessons resumed on the 4th January at Newport Tennis Centre.

Cycling

Children’s Cycling and Track Cycling are available at the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales. Additional measures may be implemented including increased social distancing and reduced capacities, we will confirm any further changes in due course.

Track League will return on Tuesday 11th January; sign-on is from 6pm and riders will need to remain in their areas before and after racing.

Swimming 

Public swimming is available at Active Living Centre and the Regional Pool & Tennis Centre. 

The main pools at both venues will be lane swimming only. You will need to book a lane relevant to your swimming speed. Sessions will be a maximum of 60 minutes of pool time to allow our staff to clean. Additional measures will be implemented in including wider lanes for increased social distancing and reduced capacities. You will need to arrive swim ready and we request that you only use a changing room after your swim if essential. Pool side changing will still be available.

Family swim is also available at the Regional Pool and Tennis Centre.

Swimming Lessons

Swimming lessons resumed on the 2nd January 2022 at the Regional Pool and Tennis Centre and Active Living Centre.

Swimmers will need to come swim ready and will be greeted by a member of our leisure team at reception and taken to lessons.

Swimmers in the main pool at the Regional Pool and Tennis Centre will need to change pool side after their swim and exit through the side door. Parents and guardians can support with changing their child if this is essential.

Swimmers in the Teaching Pool at the Regional Pool and Tennis Centre and the pool at Active Living Centre can continue to use changing rooms. Parents and guardians can support with changing their child if this is essential.

Spectators are allowed on the grounds of safeguarding in the main pool only, however, we ask that you socially distance and wear a mask; all children spectating must remain seated. Spectating is not possible in the teaching pool at the Regional Pool & Tennis Centre and Active Living Centre swimming pool due to a lack of space and being unable to social distance. 

Tots

There are no changes to tots sessions but please keep an eye on our website and social media for the latest details.

All adults must wear a face mask or covering during the Tots sessions unless exempt.

The Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre 

We are reviewing guidance with regards to performances at The Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre and will share more detailed update as soon as we can. Below is a list of performances that have been affected by the current guidelines.

Rescheduled performances

At present it is only the following performances that have been rescheduled:

  • Supreme Queen which was due to take place on Saturday 15 January 2022 has been rescheduled to Friday 25 February 2022

  • Hello Again which was due to take place on Saturday 22 January 2022 has been rescheduled to Thursday 5 May 2022

  • Richard & Adam which was due to take place on Friday 28 January 2022 has been rescheduled to Saturday 24 September 2022

  • Bowie Experience which was due to take place on Friday 19 February 2022 has been rescheduled to Thursday 14 July 2022.

All tickets for the old date will remain valid for the new date.

Cancelled performances

  • WNO Orchestra: Return to Vienna on Friday 14 January

  • Trumpet Sensation with Lucienne Renaudin Vary on Thursday 3 February

Our box office team will be contacting bookers for the above affected performances over the next few days to discuss your options so we ask for your patience during this time and wait for us to contact you.

Our cinema and workshops will go ahead as planned with increased social distancing and capacities limited.

Cafés  

Our cafes at The Riverfront and The Regional Pool and Tennis Centre will remain open.

Cafe space at The Regional Pool & Tennis Centre can be used by customers outside of normal operating hours e.g. customers making a purchase from vending machines in the evening.

Bookings and Pre-booked Events

If your booking forms part of a larger ‘block booking’ or ‘event’ this will be going ahead as normal unless social distancing measures can't be maintained; if you feel that you can maintain social distancing a request can be sent to the Site Manager for review and clarity. 

Spectators are allowed for children’s activities and vulnerable adults on the grounds of safeguarding, however, we ask that you socially distance and wear a mask.

If your booking is affected by the latest update, someone will be in touch with you to arrange the transfer of your booking to a convenient date and time and to discuss your options. We ask customers to be patient with us and we will be in touch as soon as possible, we will start to communicate with customers whose bookings are due in date order.

Memberships and Direct Debits

As all of our services are due to continue, there will not be any changes to the collection of direct debits and swimming credits.
