Newport Live is proudly supporting a unique fundraising challenge at Newport Stadium, as local fundraiser and Cineworld manager Mo Williams prepares to complete a marathon with a difference in aid of BBC Children in Need.

On Friday 30 October, Mo will take on the remarkable challenge of running a full marathon around the track at Newport Stadium, a challenge made possible through the support and facilitation of Newport Live. To make the feat even more demanding, every step of the 26.2-mile distance will be completed while balancing an egg on a spoon.

To complete the marathon, he will need to finish 105.5 laps of the stadium track without dropping the egg, testing both endurance and concentration in support of a cause close to his heart.

The challenge forms part of Cineworld's ongoing support for BBC Children in Need, a charity that helps children and young people facing a wide range of challenges across the UK.

Speaking about the challenge, Mo said:

"During the time I have been involved with BBC Children in Need, I have been fortunate enough to see first-hand the positive impact that the money raised has on the lives of children and young people. I passionately believe that the work they do is incredibly important and a real force for good. This challenge is my way of helping to raise awareness and vital funds to support even more young people who need it most."

BBC Children in Need believes that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive. Through funding local projects and organisations, the charity supports children and young people experiencing poverty, mental health challenges, grief, and a range of other difficulties.

Despite the growing need for support, BBC Children in Need is currently only able to fund around one in six organisations that apply for assistance. Every donation helps fund more local projects and ensures that vulnerable children have access to trusted adults, safe spaces, and life-changing opportunities.

Newport Live's support of the event highlights its commitment to promoting health, wellbeing and community initiatives across the city. By providing access to Newport Stadium, Newport Live is helping create a platform for an inspiring challenge that combines determination, community spirit and fundraising for an important cause.

"We're proud to support Mo and this fantastic fundraising effort for BBC Children in Need. It's inspiring to see someone go to such lengths to make a difference. We're privileged that Newport Stadium can play a small part in helping raise awareness and funds for such an important cause. We wish Mo the very best of luck and encourage the community to support Mo and get behind this fantastic cause" commented Andrea Ovey, Director of Business Development.

Members of the public are encouraged to show their support, cheer on the challenge, and donate to help BBC Children in Need continue its vital work supporting children and young people across the UK.
