The Community Sport and Wellbeing Team delivers and facilitates high quality sporting opportunities for children, families, schools, communities, sports clubs, and local groups across Newport.
Positive Futures is a sport based social inclusion programme that has been delivered in Newport for the past 14 years. The programme uses sport as a tool to engage young people, predominantly aged 10-19 years, within our communities in local community facilities, and through a referral process from a range of partnership agencies.
The Newport Live Alternative Education programme uses sport, physical activity and health-based interventions as the foundation for providing educational and wellbeing direction to children and young people at risk of exclusion or unable to adapt to mainstream school.
Health and Wellbeing
Health and Wellbeing is part of the Community Sport and Wellbeing Team. It is split into two funded programmes and partnerships; Families First, the Family Health and Wellbeing programme and Healthy & Active Newport; part of the national Healthy and Active Fund.

Newport Live Sports Development aim is to ensure young people in Newport have access to regular and accessible sport and physical activity opportunities. Early Years and Physical Literacy
The Sport Wales Physical Literacy Journey aims to ensure that all children and young people will have the skills and motivation that support them to progress to good quality community opportunities.
