Towards the end of 2025, Newport Live coordinated the Christmas Cwtch fundraising appeal. Newport Live partnered with Newport City Council’s Children’s Services, local businesses, and an amazing group of volunteers to help over 300 of the most vulnerable children, young people, and families in Newport over the Christmas period.
Thanks to the incredible community effort, over £5,192 has been raised and hundreds of gifts and essential items were provided to children, young people and families for those who needed it the most this Christmas.
Karl Reed, Head of Community Sport & Wellbeing said, “We’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who supported or donated to Newport’s Christmas Cwtch Appeal this year. This appeal truly brings people together and helps spread joy and warmth to those who need it most!”
The appeal also funded a magical Christmas party at the Celtic Manor, for children and families supported by Children’s Services, complete with Father Christmas, gifts, games, disco, party food and drink and lots of festive fun. An amazing evening with so many delighted children and families.
Councillor Laura Lacey, Newport City Council’s Cabinet Member for Social Services said, “It has been amazing to see so many lovely people and local businesses from across the community of Newport, contributing to such a worthy cause. My heartfelt thanks to all those involved delivering the event, wrapping and delivering packages and gifts, and to all those who have been able to donate this year, and who have helped this fundraiser and project!”
