Bryony Gurmin, Health, Fitness and Wellbeing Manager for Newport Live said We have launched our Zoom classes to help people stay Healthy and Active at Home whilst they cannot exercise in our leisure centres. Classes range from high to low intensity and include Yoga, Functional Flow and Easy Movers, we have a good mix of classes so there is something for everybody!

“We have had an amazing response to our online classes so far it has really gained momentum and has been wonderful to see how the social interaction of online exercise has helped to develop friendships at a time of isolation for many. One of our participants is even getting up to do this at 5am in America!”

Andrea Ovey, Director of Business Development for Newport Live said “We know that exercise and taking part in physical acitivity are so vital to people’s health and wellbeing, particularly at this difficult time, and it is fantastic to be able to support people via online sessions so they can workout safely whilst at home.

“We can’t wait to welcome customers back to our classes and facilities when it is safe to do so, but in the meantime this is a fantastic way for people to continue their regular classes online and keep in touch with their favourite instructors.”

To date the charitable organisation have had over 190 participants attend live exercise classes since they launched them back in February and have even had some participants join them from America. The launch of live exercise classes via Zoom is part of Newport Live’s Happy and Healthy at Home activity which supports people’s wellbeing by providing online resources that will help people to stay fit and healthy, support positive physical and mental wellbeing and inspire creativity.
