The Riverfront Theatre and Arts Centre is excited to announce auditions for the Young Company of the upcoming 2026 Cinderella pantomime. We invite talented young performers from the Newport and Torfaen boroughs, aged 9 to 15 (please note that there is a height restriction), to showcase their skills and be part of our biggest panto yet!
Auditions will be held on Wednesday 26 August 2026, where aspiring actors will have the chance to dance and sing, for a spot in one of three performing teams: Bibbidi, Bobbidi, Boo.. With performances spanning from 27 November 2026 to 31 December 2026 following the rehearsal period, this year's production promises to be a magical experience for everyone involved in this beloved seasonal highlight!
Young Company Audition Information
Eligibility
- Ages: Ages: 9–15 (Must be 9 by 12th Nov 2026 and not older than 15 years, 11 months by 31st December 2026)
- Max height: 5'1" (Measurements will be taken on the day)
- Boroughs: Newport, Torfaen only
Audition Details
- Location: Main Theatre, The Riverfront Theatre and Arts Centre, Kingsway, Newport, NP20 1HG
- Date: Wednesday 26th August 2026
- Time: Registration opens at 9am, auditions from 10am - 2pm
- Audition Includes: Learning a short dance routine as a group and performing a small scene from the script for the creative team.
Audition Process
- Pre-Registration for the audition process must be completed here.
- Check-in will begin at 9am. On arrival collect a number from a member of our team. We will not be registering throughout the day.
- Auditionees will not be seen without registering.
Need to Know
- Parents/Guardians must stay on-site during auditions. The young person that you accompany to the audition may not be required to stay for the duration of the audition and you must be present for them.
- Provide food and water for auditioning children.
- Panel decision is final.
- Those auditioning MUST be available for all dates throughout rehearsals and the run. If they cannot attend every allocated date, then we cannot see them at audition.
- We are casting 3 teams of 6 young performers.
- Successful candidates will be measured and photographed for costumes on the day as well as a team photo being taken for programme and press release.
- Clothing – Comfortable non-branded and team clothing, non-shiny as your number will not stick. Proper footwear = laced trainers. We will not be able to audition anyone barefoot, wearing flip flops, slides, Uggs, slippers or Crocs (even if they are in sport mode)!
- Nails & Hair - Audition nails are to be natural with no stick on or additional elements. Please have hair tied up or back where possible.
Commitment
- Selected children must commit to the entire pantomime period, including term-time and weekend performances. Performance licenses will grant them the right to not be in school during the times stipulated on the license.
- All young performers must stick to their dates agreed, due to licensing they are unable to cover each other. All successful castings will be subject to licensing approval.
- Rehearsals: 12 November 2026 to 26 November 2026 (varied schedule, full details below)
- Performances: 27th Nov 2026 to 31st December 2026, evenly distributed among three teams: Bibbidi, Bobbidi, Boo.
