We are looking for volunteers to support with the delivery of the largest free & un-ticketed street theatre festival in Wales, Big Splash on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd July 2023.
About the Big Splash Festival
Big Splash is a family-friendly festival that takes place both at The Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre and on the city streets of Newport, over the weekend of 22-23 July 2023.
The weekend is jammed full of exciting and action-packed street theatre performances from artists based in Newport, Wales, and the UK as well as workshops, live music, stalls, and community performances.
The festival takes place between 11am – 7:30pm on Saturday 22nd and between 11:30am & 4:30pm on Sunday 23rd and is expected to welcome over 20,000 people to the event.
Big Splash is organised by the team at The Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre who are part of Newport Live, a not-for-profit charitable trust. It is funded by Newport Live, the Arts Council of Wales and sponsored by Friars Walk, Newport Now BID (Business Improvement District) & Newport Bus.
We work with a variety of partners to deliver the festival including Le Pub, Mercure Hotel Newport, Tinshed, The Place, The Alacrity Foundation, Gallery 57, Articulture and more.

What the role of volunteer involves
Volunteers help support the delivery of the Big Splash festival. You will be based at a zone (which is likely to be outdoors) on the festival site and will be managed by a designated Zone Leader who will give you a variety of different activities to do to support the festival including:
· Assisting performers to locations
· Monitoring your area and working with the Zone Leader, stewards, and other colleagues to ensure the zone runs smoothly
· Sharing information with and helping attendees and audiences at the festival
· Representing The Riverfront and Newport Live
· Giving information about the festival to members of the public
You will need to attend a 2-hour training session early in July. You will need to be available for a minimum of 4 hours over the Big Splash weekend.

We are looking for enthusiastic, friendly, and reliable people aged 18 and over to be part of our volunteer team.
