The Riverfront Theatre and Arts Centre presents ‘My Normal F**king Sex Life’ - a bold, chaotic and painfully funny one-woman show from multidisciplinary artist Tori Lyons, running from Thursday 21 – Saturday 23 May.
Raw, raucous and unfiltered, this is not your typical comedy night.
At 31, newly single and sitting in a sexual health clinic with her first STI, Tori finds herself spiralling. As questions from friends start rolling in, so does the shame - and suddenly we’re plunged headfirst into a whirlwind of memories, sexual misadventures and the messy reality of navigating sex, safety and self-worth.
With biting humour and fearless honesty, My Normal F**king Sex Life takes everything we’re told not to talk about and puts it centre stage - inviting audiences to laugh, wince, and maybe see themselves in the chaos. This is a show with deep roots at The Riverfront.
Tori Lyons first stepped into The Riverfront as a writer in 2023 as part of CULTIVATE, the venue’s scratch performance night where artists test bold new ideas in front of live audiences. It’s a space for risk, experimentation and real conversation - and it’s exactly where My Normal F**king Sex Life began.
What started as a work-in-progress, shared in a room full of curiosity and feedback, has since evolved into a full-scale production.
The Riverfront has supported Tori every step of the way - through research and development, rehearsal, over the past three years, and even the creation of the show’s trailer and photography, all captured in and around the building itself. Now, in a full-circle moment, the theatre proudly presents the finished show on its stage.
Tori Lyons is a multidisciplinary artist from Aberdare and Pontypridd, whose work spans theatre and screen, including writing comedy for BBC Wales and her debut short film ‘Justice’ which has just hit the festival circuit for 2026. Tori often uses comedy and semi-autobiographical storytelling to explore complex and often taboo subjects. Her mission is simple: to make the uncomfortable feel comfortable.
‘What have I done?! Well, it looks like I’ve made a semi-autobiographical show about sex and safety. ‘My Normal F**king Sex Life’ is an element of my story and journey as a woman navigating life with complex PTSD. The lack of meaningful discussion around sex and safety has ultimately led myself and the majority of people I know to have terrible experiences, limiting self beliefs and buckets full of shame. Shame that is often cyclical and passed on through fear. I share this story with that hope that it will open up the conversation, engage curiosity, and offer up an alternative way to approach these subjects. And whether you’re laughing with me or at me, you’ll have a good time watching it too!’
Creative Development Manager, Jamie Anderson says “Working with Tori and the team on this project has been an absolute joy. Now, almost three years to the day since the CULTIVATE scratch performance that started the journey, I’m delighted to see the production on stage in front of an audience where it belongs. Tori’s writing and performance has managed to take difficult subject matter and offer it to audiences through a lens that’ll take you through all the emotions. The Riverfront team have been proud to support this work and look forward to the public seeing this incredible performance.”
