This event was a day of tennis excitement, with a wide range of activities that left attendees feeling inspired and ready to pick up a racquet for a happier and healthier lifestyle.

On  28th of October, Newport Tennis Centre welcomed the community to its newly renovated indoor courts. The Open Day featured free tennis sessions, including LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) youth coaching, adult coaching sessions, free play, and family time on the court, all of which were met with enthusiasm by participants of all ages and skill levels.

Newport Tennis Centre's commitment to making tennis accessible to everyone was evident throughout the day. The event provided a platform for people to come together and share the joy of tennis, whether they were seasoned players or beginners taking their first swing.

The highlight of the day was the official court opening ceremony, conducted by Councillor Debbie Harvey, emphasising the importance of this facility to the local community. Andrea Ovey, Director of Business Development and Richard Dale, Head of Business Development at Newport Live, also joined in celebrating the courts re-launch, demonstrating Newport Live's dedication to fostering community engagement and promoting an active and healthier lifestyle.

Reflecting on the Open Day's success, Tennis Manager, Luke Difranco said, "Our new indoor courts are more than just a place to play tennis; they are a symbol of our commitment to the well-being of our community. The enthusiasm and energy we witnessed during this Open Day were truly inspiring. We wholeheartedly embrace the mission of Newport Live to inspire people to lead happier and healthier lives. We hope everyone who joined us will continue to pick up a racquet and experience the many physical and mental health benefits that tennis has to offer."

The Open Day demonstrates our commitment to furthering the reach and engagement with the sport, as one of just 6 indoor tennis centres in Wales we are very fortunate to have such a facility in Newport, the refurbishment and investment into the facility is hugely important. We look forward to continuing to welcome everyone to the Tennis Centre to join in the sport.

In the spirit of continuing this momentum, Newport Tennis Centre will be hosting a series of upcoming sessions for both youth and adults at Tredegar Park in the coming weeks.
