Tickets are now on sale for the 2022 British National Track Championships in Newport, which take place from 3-6 March, with prices starting at just £5.

Taking place in the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales for the first time, the event will see Britain’s best track riders battling it out for the coveted national champions’ jerseys, with recent champions including Tokyo Olympic gold medallists Katie Archibald, Jason Kenny and Laura Kenny.

Seated tickets for the event will range from £10 - £15 per session, with standing tickets also available priced at £5 - £10. Concession prices are available for those aged under 16 or over 65, while further offers include a seated day pass for £20 and a full weekend pass for £45.

Pontypridd’s Rhys Britton is the reigning points race national champion and announced his arrival on the international track cycling stage last year with a bronze medal in the scratch race at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Roubaix. He said:

“It’s brilliant to see such a prestigious event heading to Wales, giving many riders and fans the chance to watch top-class track cycling live for the first time.

“After a big year in 2021 I’m excited to defend my national title in front of a home crowd and start the year strongly, as I build towards the summer’s Commonwealth Games.”

Further enhancing the city’s status as a destination for culture, leisure and sport, riders will be guaranteed to receive a warm welcome, which many Great Britain Cycling Team riders previously enjoyed while riding at the venue during their Olympic and Paralympic holding camps.

Councillor Jane Mudd, Leader of Newport City Council, said:

“Newport City Council and Newport Live are proud that such a prestigious event is being held in one of the flagship sporting venues in our city.

“I’m sure residents will be among those snapping up tickets to watch some of the world’s top cyclists in action.”

The Covid mitigation measures in place at the event will be confirmed in due course.
