Newport Live health and active app

At Newport Live we want to support you in achieving your fitness goals, support your wellbeing and inspire you to be happier and healthier! 
Since we launched our Newport Live app many of our members and customers have used it to book classes, courts, check opening times and keep up to date with news and information.  

To complement our Newport Live app, we have launched our Healthy and Active app. Provided by Technogym MyWellness, the app is the perfect partner to help you workout and improve your wellbeing at home, outdoors or with us at our centres.  

The Newport Live Healthy and Active app enables you to access your lifestyle and fitness data, training programmes and much more on the go. 

The app will help you to;

  • Manage your training programme directly online or from your mobile phone.

  • Record your body measurements and keep track of your health status.

  • Connect with popular fitness and nutritional tracking apps and devices like Polar, Garmin, Apple Health, RunKeeper, Strava, Mapmyfitness and many more.

  • Access online workouts from Newport Live instructors and Technogym.

  • Other helpful information and links to support your physical and mental wellbeing.  

  

If you are a Newport Live member, when our centres reopen, you will also be able to;

  • Record enhanced body measurements by having a health check with one of our team.  

  • Collect and share your indoor training, outdoor sports and movement data with one of our trained instructors to get tailored personal support. 

  • Get personalised training support from one of our fitness instructors.

How do I download the app?

The app can be downloaded from the Google Play and Apple Stores. Just search for Newport Live Healthy and Active. The app you are looking for is green, our pink app is the main Newport Live app for online bookings. 

 

How do I sign up for the Newport Live Healthy and Active app?

Create an account with the same email address you use to manage your Newport Live account. When asked to select your facility, choose ‘Newport Live’

 If you do not already have a Newport Live account you can still sign up to the Newport Live Healthy and Active app with any email address. 


Our instructors are also able to guide the member through the set up process. 

Do I need to be a member of Newport Live to use the Healthy and Active app?

You don’t need to be a member of our facilities to use the app however some of features will be limited like personal support from our teams.

What are MOVEs? How are they calculated?

MOVEs measure your activity level. The greater the training intensity, the more MOVEs you accumulate per minute. You can view the MOVEs in the Results section of the app. Your Movergy (in the yellow circle) is your MOVEs target per day, and it is calculated on your average MOVEs over two weeks. 

For example, running for 10 minutes at low intensity accumulates about 200 MOVEs, the faster and longer you run, cycle, row, or whatever your favourite exercise is, the more MOVEs you'll earn.

Track outdoor training

There are two ways to track your outdoor training:  
•     Directly in the app using Outdoor activity tracking available in home 
•     Connecting third party Apps (e.g. Garmin Connect, Strava, Polar, etc.); the data will be automatically synchronised at the end of the task. 

Please note, if you connect via a 3rd party app, the Healthy and Active app will only sync MOVEs and not the specific exercise or distance.

If you would like this recorded, you should go directly in to the Healthy and Active app and to track your activity (e.g. select outdoor run for this to be logged). 

Tailored programmes / Personal support

Newport Live members can get tailored programmes from out instructors via Prescribe. This will allow you to access your personal programme on tablet, smart phone or PC in the gym, at home or outside!  

There will also be generic workouts available on the app including ‘workout of the week.’ 

Connect your app or device

You can import the data from major fitness apps into the app; go to the Settings section, and Connect apps and devices. 

 

 

Newport Live classes and exercises at Home

Access to our instructors delivering some of our most popular classes and exercises for you to try at home. There are also additional exercises provided by Technogym and an exclusive link to try Les Mills on demand for free for 30 days.  

 

 

Challenges

If you are feeling competitive join our weekly fitness challenges to have a place on the leader board for bragging rights and potential prizes. 

 

 

Coaching

 If you need a push, a cheesy motivational quote, exercise guidance or health and nutrition advice our trainers can offer you remote advice via our coach messenger service.
