Newport Live, a Charitable Trust, strives to Inspire People to be Happier and Healthier, through engagement and participation in sport and leisure, theatre, arts and culture.
Newport Live is currently recruiting independent Non-Executive Trustees with a passion for Newport, who can help us deliver our strategic objectives as we seek to continue to respond to the Coronavirus pandemic and support the economic and well-being regeneration of Newport, as we Inspire People to be Happier and Healthier.
The current Chair of the Newport Live board, John Harrhy has announced that he will retire as a Trustee and as Chair in March 2023. The board, therefore, is seeking to appoint a new Chair to work with the Vice Chair and the Chief Executive through an exciting period of change for the charity and the development of a 5-year strategy for the organisation. The Chair will be elected by the Board from within its Community Trustee Membership and as such, any newly recruited Trustees will be eligible for appointment.

As well as delivering coaching and participation opportunities in sport and culture from grassroots to performances and events at the highest standards regionally and nationally across Wales and in the UK.

Steve Ward, Chief Executive of Newport Live said, “We’re looking to recruit people with a passion for Newport, who have the expertise, energy, and ambition to help us continue our success and deliver strategic objectives that support the economic and wellbeing regeneration of Newport. Especially as we continue to respond to the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic and the cost-of-living challenges that our communities face.”
Trustees are required to support the Chief Executive to lead the governance of the Trust in the provision of well-being, sport, leisure arts and cultural facilities and community intervention and engagement programmes in the interests of social welfare to the local communities. An important part of the role is to steer and lead the organisation to ensure it promotes community participation. Wherever possible positively influencing the behaviours of the public on the benefit of living and practicing an active lifestyle and the value of the arts and physical activity upon their physical and mental well-being and quality of life.
John Harry, Chair of Newport Live said, “As we drive the organisation forward, we are looking for Trustees who are willing to give their time, expertise and experience to help our communities and who will embrace and share our passion, mission, vision and values. There is also the important responsibility to represent Newport Live positively and be a wonderful Ambassador for the charity.”
