Meet the Wonderland Team: Hummadruz

We interviewed Hummadruz about their role in Wonderland, here is what they had to say:

What was you role in building / creating Wonderland?

We created the UV Forest; the Cheshire Cat, the Stars. We’re doing UV Psychedelic Performances in Wonderland and workshops for Sparkle.

What does your role involve?

We are Hummadruz – The black-Light Theatre of Wales/ Theatr Uwchfioled Cymru.

We designed and made the UV Forest, adding mirrors to expand the space and have added small hidden details within it for people to find. We have also added a soundscape to add an air of mystery, weirdness and peace to the forest.

We created a short performance based around the Mad Hatter for special tours of Wonderland and are doing workshops called “Big Fish Little Fish, Cardboard Box” for children to create their own UV Puppets to parade around Wonderland from recycled cardboard boxes.

We added UV stars to the sky to add a big vertical element and create a sense of space , whilst our huge Cheshire Cat oversees all the whimsy and shenanigans in wonderland.

Describe what it feels like being a part of this project

It’s been a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with the Escape Rooms and the Riverfront, and a great chance to play, creating joy, beauty, tish-tosh and fipsy!

What is your favoritye part of Wonderland?

The public’s reactions!

Why do you think people should visit Wonderland?

People will enjoy the mystery, variety, colour and sense of escapism.

It’s beautiful, humorous and rammed with child-like playfulness.
