Sports clubs, groups, and organisations are always in need of support through fundraising, in order for their particular club to simply keep running, and their sport or activity to be sustainable. Our Sports Development Team is here to help support those clubs through the My Club Development Programme, and we can also advise on the following funding and grant information.

Sport Wales have several funding pots available to apply for:


Community Chest

For grants of up to £1,500 for activities that encourage people to be more active, more often and raise the standard of existing sports and physical activities.

Community Chest offers grant awards of up to £1,500 towards the following areas:

  • Increasing participation
  • Increasing Club Capacity
  • Upskilling Coaches & Volunteers

Who can apply?

Any group that holds an account (be it a Bank, Building Society or Credit Union account), in their organisation's name. For example: Sports Club or Association, Youth Club or Community Group.

Development Grant

For grants of £1,501 to £25,000 is available to cover all of the above projects as well as coach education, floodlighting for training purposes, purchase of land, or rights in land, to develop activity areas or start-up grants to support new enterprises.
