Newport LIVE has two opportunities for committed professional individuals to play a key customer facing role and to develop their career within the leisure and cultural sector. We have two posts available:

1 x full time post based at Newport Centre - permanent

1 x full time post based at Geraint Thomas Velodrome - fixed term until 31 May 2020

If you are dynamic and enthusiastic about delivering exceptional customer service, increasing opportunities for people to engage in physical and cultural activities and want to be at the forefront of change, this role is definitely for you working as an integral part of the operational management team.

The successful candidates will work on a three week fixed rota basis alongside the existing Leisure Operations Officers at each site.

This role is essential for the operation of the leisure facilities. Key responsibilities include being a venue key holder, health and safety within the venue, leading teams, security, and operation of electrical and mechanical plant equipment, basic maintenance, sales and marketing of products, preparing for events and touring of the venues to ensure a fantastic experience is delivered to all our customers.

The successful candidate must have at least three years supervisory experience within a busy customer service environment and to hold a current Pool Lifeguard qualification and Pool Plant Operators certificate is also essential.

£9.00 per hour

Newport LIVE is looking to recruit enthusiastic, lively and self-motivated individuals as Casual Food and Beverage Assistants who have availability during the day time - from 7.00 am until 4.00 pm.

Successful applicants are required to work across all Newport LIVE which includes the Riverfront Theatre, Newport International Sports Village and the Newport Centre.

You will assist in the provision of a positive customer experience within our Food & Beverage department.

This role will include working in the café and bars along with helping to organise and host children’s parties. This will entail the service and preparation of food, cash handling, cleaning catering areas and preparing areas for children’s parties.

Newport Live is looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated individual(s) to the post of Casual Cleaning Operative.

The successful applicants will be expected to work at Newport Live's venues, which includes the Newport International Sports Village, Newport Centre or The Riverfront Theatre where they will assist in ensuring all users and customers of facilities experience a welcoming and safe environment that is fit for purpose, resulting in maximum enjoyment and repeat usage of facilities.

Duties will include cleaning tasks to ensure that the facility is maintained to a high level of hygiene and cleanliness.

The post holder will need to have:

  • an awareness of COSHH Regulations
  • experience of cleaning in public facilities

The post holder will be required to work early mornings, evenings and weekends on a rota basis.

Grade 6 - SCP 25

We are looking for suitably qualified Level 3 Tennis Coach as part of the established Newport Live Integrated Tennis Programme. 

You will assist the Tennis Manager and Tennis coaches with the implementations and sales of the Newport Live weekly Tennis Programme. 

You will also deliver and evaluate tennis lessons (following the LTA teaching progressions and guidelines)

You will hold a LTA Level 3 Coach qualification. Applicants must have practical experience of the mini tennis progressions and delivering tennis lessons to children, beginner adults and learners with specific needs within the leisure environment.

You must also show evidence of working using your own initiative and experience dealing with customers, as well as knowledge & understanding of Child Protection policies in a tennis environment.

Newport LIVE are looking for suitable volunteers to join our dynamic team to help deliver our Integrated Swim Programme. The successful volunteer will be responsible for assisting in the sessions in a wide range of our programmes and events throughout the city.

The Integrated Swim Programme delivers a comprehensive aquatic programme including learn to swim, school swim programme, competitive swimming & water polo, lessons for children with specific needs, holiday activities, community clubs and other aquatic sports.

You will have the opportunity to attend the swim development coach education programme including stroke specific workshops, safeguarding and disability awareness. The aim of which is to develop teaching and engagement skills and ultimately improved sessions for our participants.

Salary £12.19 per hour

Newport LIVE is looking to recruit a Casual Track Cycling Coach to augment the provision of high quality coaching to a range of cycling groups who attend the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales

Coaching activities range from taster sessions for schools through to adult cycling clubs looking for a new experience. Experienced track riders aiming for fitness gains or skill development in advance of major events are also in need of high quality coaching. Coaching opportunities are available to the successful candidate. The sessions available are posted monthly and shared between a small pool of coaches. The successful candidate should have experience of delivering track cycling sessions across a range of adult and youth groups in an indoor Velodrome environment.

Grade 3 SCP 14 / Grade 5 SCP 21

Salary £9.00 / £10.84 per hour (dependant on level of qualification)

We are looking for suitably qualified Swimming Instructors as part of the established Newport Live Integrated Swimming Programme.

You will assist the Aquatic Development Officer and Senior Swimming Instructor with the implementation of the Newport Live, Dragon Mark Accredited Integrated Weekly Learn to Swim Programme. You will also deliver and evaluate swimming lessons (following the new Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) National Plan for Teaching Swimming Standard.) You will hold as minimum an ASA/STA Level 1 Swim Teachers qualification. Applicants must have practical experience of the ASA NPTS and delivering swimming lessons to children, adults and learners with specific needs within the leisure environment.
