Newport LIVE is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to the post of a permanent part time Cleaning Operative.

The successful applicants will be based at The Newport Centre where they will assist in ensuring all users and customers of facilities experience a welcoming and safe environment that is fit for purpose, resulting in maximum enjoyment and repeat usage of facilities.

Duties will include cleaning tasks to ensure that the facility is maintained to a high level of hygiene and cleanliness.

The post holder will need to have:

  • an awareness of COSHH Regulations

  • experience of cleaning in public facilities

    The post holder will be required to work early mornings, evenings and weekends on a rota basis.

Newport LIVE is looking to recruit enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and responsible Casual Sports Coaches to work as part of the Newport LIVE Sport and Physical Activity Development Team. The Sport and Physical Activity Development Team provides sport and physical activity opportunities across the City of Newport in schools, communities, alternative education programmes, and in a variety of other environments. The team is held in high regard locally, regionally, and nationally due to their forward thinking, creativity, inclusive ways of delivering, and overall professionalism; and would expect the same from all candidates applying for this post.

Newport LIVE is looking to recruit professional and enthusiastic Casual Active Playworkers to become part of the newly established Newport LIVE Team.

The individual must be passionate about working with children and their families. The post is responsible for delivering a programme of play and sport for families with children from birth to the age of 12. Children will have the opportunity to explore, imitate and enjoy experimenting with a whole range of equipment and resources encouraging them to be physically active.

Within this role you will be expected to work at various Newport LIVE venues to deliver the programme across the city.

The 2019 Westfield Health British Transplant Games will take place from the 25-28 July 2019 and are expected to attract more than 850 transplant recipient athletes and more than 1,500 supporters, including donor families, to the city of Newport.

Organised on behalf of the charity Transplant Sport UK, the aim of the Games is to raise awareness of and increase organ donation. Newport Council, Newport Live, Welsh Government and the Games organisers are working in partnership to make this the best event yet.

Volunteers will play a key role in the delivery of the Games with a range of roles.

All roles will require the volunteer to:

  • Be 16 years old by 1 July 2019
  • Attend Games orientation training
  • Be enthusiastic, reliable and committed
  • Get to and from their volunteering venue
  • Work as a team
  • When applicable, work under own initiative

Please note volunteers will be:

  • Volunteering as part of a volunteer team and supported by the Games
  • Part of the Event Management Team
  • Provided with refreshments / lunch (in line with their volunteering rota)
  • A valued part of a national sporting event
  • Provided with a t-shirt to wear at the event and keep afterwards
  • Offered the opportunity to, when not volunteering, be a spectator at the Games
  • Given a volunteer certificate
  • Able to include any completed volunteer hours towards volunteer programmes such as Event Management for Volunteers, Millennium Volunteers, GoldMark, Duke of Edinburgh etc

Newport Live is looking to recruit a suitably qualified Casual Group Exercise Instructor as part of the established Newport Live group exercise program.

You will be independently teaching our participants group exercise appropriate to their level, ability and brand standards of Newport Live offering the best possible customer experience within the club and encouraging repeat custom.

You will hold a minimum of REPS Level 2 Fitness Instructor or Exercise to Music Qualification with appropriate CPD qualification relevant to the classes intended. Practical experience within the environment would be an advantage.

Grade 6 - SCP 25

£12.19 per hour

We are looking for suitably qualified Level 3 Tennis Coach as part of the established Newport Live Integrated Tennis Programme. 

You will assist the Tennis Manager and Tennis coaches with the implementations and sales of the Newport Live weekly Tennis Programme. 

You will also deliver and evaluate tennis lessons (following the LTA teaching progressions and guidelines)

You will hold a LTA Level 3 Coach qualification. Applicants must have practical experience of the mini tennis progressions and delivering tennis lessons to children, beginner adults and learners with specific needs within the leisure environment.

You must also show evidence of working using your own initiative and experience dealing with customers, as well as knowledge & understanding of Child Protection policies in a tennis environment.

Grade 3 – SCP 15

£9.09 per hour

Newport LIVE is looking to recruit enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and responsible Casual Learning Mentors to work as part of Newport LIVE’s award winning Sport and Physical Activity Development Team, working within the inspirational Alternative Education (Positive Futures) programme.

The Sport and Physical Activity Development Team provides sport and physical activity opportunities across the City of Newport in schools, communities, alternative education programmes and a variety of other environments. The team is held in high regard locally, regionally, and nationally due to their forward thinking, creativity, inclusive ways of delivering, and overall professionalism. In turn we would expect the same from candidates applying for this post.

The successful candidates would be required to work during day time but may also include working some evenings / weekend delivery when necessary.

Newport LIVE are looking for suitable volunteers to join our dynamic team to help deliver our Integrated Swim Programme. The successful volunteer will be responsible for assisting in the sessions in a wide range of our programmes and events throughout the city.

The Integrated Swim Programme delivers a comprehensive aquatic programme including learn to swim, school swim programme, competitive swimming & water polo, lessons for children with specific needs, holiday activities, community clubs and other aquatic sports.

You will have the opportunity to attend the swim development coach education programme including stroke specific workshops, safeguarding and disability awareness. The aim of which is to develop teaching and engagement skills and ultimately improved sessions for our participants.
