As a minimum requirement the applicant will need to possess an STA NARS or RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Certificate.

The post will require the post holder to work early mornings, evenings and weekends on a rota basis and the post holder will be required to attend mandatory staff training sessions.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to a successful Disclosing and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Duties will include cleaning tasks to ensure that the facility is maintained to a high level of hygiene and cleanliness.

The post holder will need to have:

  • an awareness of COSHH Regulations

  • experience of cleaning in public facilities

Newport LIVE is looking to recruit two enthusiastic and motivated individuals to the post of Full Time Senior Recreation Assistants at Newport International Sports Village, Regional Pool & Tennis Centre. The posts available are:

            1 x 37 hour full time permanent

            1 x 37 hour full time fixed term until 31 March 2020

Working as an integral part of the Facilities Operations Team, this role will lead and supervise a team of Recreation Assistants, ensuring that all required duties per operational shift are allocated fairly and that all work is performed and presented to a high standard.

As a minimum requirement, applicants will need to possess an STA NARS or RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Certificate, possess the Pool Plant Operators Certificate, demonstrate experience of planning daily work routines and be able to demonstrate 2 years operational experience with at least 1 year at supervisory level within a leisure environment.

The post will require the post holder to work early mornings, evenings and weekends on a rota basis and the post holder will be required to attend mandatory staff training sessions.

Families are supported and encouraged to live a healthy lifestyle, which could be through universal health promotion messages and activities, or through specifically targeted health and wellbeing interventions depending on individual needs.

Successful applicants are required to work across all Newport LIVE which includes the Riverfront Theatre, Newport International Sports Village and the Newport Centre.

You will assist in the provision of a positive customer experience within our Food & Beverage department.

This role will include working in the café and bars along with helping to organise and host children’s parties. This will entail the service and preparation of food, cash handling, cleaning catering areas and preparing areas for children’s parties.

The post holder will be required to work mornings, evenings and weekends as and when required.

The 2019 Westfield Health British Transplant Games will take place from the 25-28 July 2019 and are expected to attract more than 850 transplant recipient athletes and more than 1,500 supporters, including donor families, to the city of Newport.

Organised on behalf of the charity Transplant Sport UK, the aim of the Games is to raise awareness of and increase organ donation. Newport Council, Newport Live, Welsh Government and the Games organisers are working in partnership to make this the best event yet.

Volunteers will play a key role in the delivery of the Games with a range of roles.

All roles will require the volunteer to:

  • Be 16 years old by 1 July 2019
  • Attend Games orientation training
  • Be enthusiastic, reliable and committed
  • Get to and from their volunteering venue
  • Work as a team
  • When applicable, work under own initiative

Please note volunteers will be:

  • Volunteering as part of a volunteer team and supported by the Games
  • Part of the Event Management Team
  • Provided with refreshments / lunch (in line with their volunteering rota)
  • A valued part of a national sporting event
  • Provided with a t-shirt to wear at the event and keep afterwards
  • Offered the opportunity to, when not volunteering, be a spectator at the Games
  • Given a volunteer certificate

Newport Live is looking to recruit a suitably qualified Casual Group Exercise Instructor as part of the established Newport Live group exercise program.

You will be independently teaching our participants group exercise appropriate to their level, ability and brand standards of Newport Live offering the best possible customer experience within the club and encouraging repeat custom.

You will hold a minimum of REPS Level 2 Fitness Instructor or Exercise to Music Qualification with appropriate CPD qualification relevant to the classes intended. Practical experience within the environment would be an advantage.

Grade 6 - SCP 25

£12.19 per hour

We are looking for suitably qualified Level 3 Tennis Coach as part of the established Newport Live Integrated Tennis Programme. 

You will assist the Tennis Manager and Tennis coaches with the implementations and sales of the Newport Live weekly Tennis Programme. 

You will also deliver and evaluate tennis lessons (following the LTA teaching progressions and guidelines)

You will hold a LTA Level 3 Coach qualification. Applicants must have practical experience of the mini tennis progressions and delivering tennis lessons to children, beginner adults and learners with specific needs within the leisure environment.

You must also show evidence of working using your own initiative and experience dealing with customers, as well as knowledge & understanding of Child Protection policies in a tennis environment.
