Free swimming allows 0 – 16 years old, over 60s, members of the armed forces and veterans to swim for free at selected times at the Regional Pool & Tennis Centre and the Active Living Centre. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult and child supervision guidelines will apply.

Under 17s Free Swimming

0 - 16 years are able to swim for free at designated times on the weekend and during school holidays. To be eligible for free swimming you must possess a free swim card. Application forms can be downloaded here and can be returned to any Newport Live venue where you will be issued with a card.

*Please note:

- Pre-booking is advised, download the app to book

- One session per person per day

- You must bring your free swim card, without your free swim card the cost is £2.40 per child

- A replacement card can be purchased for £3.75

Free Swimming for Over 60’s

Over 60s can swim for free during designated times at any Newport Live pool. To be eligible for free swimming you must possess a free swim card. Application forms can be downloaded here and can be returned to any Newport Live venue where you will be issued with a card. Please bring with you proof of eligibility e.g. pension book, driving licence etc.

Free Swimming for Armed Forces & Veterans

Serving members of the armed forces and veterans can swim for free all year round at public and adult-only swim sessions at any Newport Live pool.

To be eligible for free swimming you must possess a Defence Privilege Card. This card must be presented on your first visit to a Newport Live facility. A copy of the card will be taken as proof of your eligibility to access the scheme and to enable Newport Live to access funding for the scheme.

To access a Newport Live Free Swim card:

  • Visit any Newport Live centre and register at reception, please bring your Defence Privilege Card.

  • Call 01633 656757 and speak to a member of the Customer Service team. 

Free swimming sessions must be booked in advance.
